Ember Women’s Theatre is seeking a talented Lighting Designer for our upcoming production of Morning Sun by Simon Stephens. This intimate and deeply moving play explores the passage of time, memory, and the relationships that shape our lives. Position Overview:
The Lighting Designer will be responsible for designing and programming, and teaching the booth operator lighting looks on light board computer for our June production of Morning Sun.  This individual will collaborate with directors, set designers, and technical staff to create lighting effects that enhance storytelling and bring productions to life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement creative lighting design Morning Sun ensuring alignment with the artistic vision.

  • Collaborate with director, set designer, and production teams to achieve optimal lighting effects.

  • Program lighting consoles for booth operation during tech rehearsal and production.

  • Teaching booth operator lighting program operation for lighting looks based on show needs.

  • Conduct lighting plot development, cueing, and equipment selection.

  • Supervise the setup, focusing, and operation of lighting equipment.

  • Troubleshoot and maintain lighting systems and equipment.

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices in lighting design and operation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or proven experience in Theatre, Lighting Design, or related field

  • Proficiency in lighting software and other industry-standard tools.

  • Strong understanding of lighting design principles, color theory, and theatrical production processes.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced production environment.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to lift and move lighting equipment and work at heights as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in various performance spaces, including proscenium, thrust, and black box theatres.

  • Knowledge of lighting control protocols.

  • Experience with LED and intelligent lighting fixtures.

Time Requirements:

  • Attend 1-3 scheduled production meetings within April and May time frame.

  • Tech Week: June 1st -June 5th

  • Experience with LED and intelligent lighting fixtures.
