2025 SEASON AUDITIONS

Morning Sun Auditions

Sunday, March 16th

4pm - 7pm

Morning Sun by Simon Stephens is a poignant drama that traces the life of Charley McBride over five decades within a Greenwich Village apartment. Through the intertwined stories of three generations—Charley, her mother Claudette, and her daughter Tessa—the play delves into themes of family, identity, and memory. As they navigate love, loss, and the complexities of their relationships, their personal journeys unfold against the ever-changing backdrop of New York City. Inspired by Edward Hopper’s painting Morning Sun, which portrays a solitary woman gazing out of a window, the play echoes themes of introspection and self-reflection.

DO YOU ONLY CAST WOMEN?
eMBer Women’s Theatre welcomes persons of all ages, races, genders, and abilities to audition for productions. For roles that are characterized as “male” or “female” we cast actors who either identify as the genders specified, or those who identify as fluid or non-binary. eMBer Women’s Theatre strives to always be a welcoming and safe space for you to pursue art. Our work is focused on bringing more productions to stage that highlight female-identifying characters, but our doors are open to all people.

WHAT DO I NEED TO PREPARE?
Please arrive on time. Masks are optional and to be worn to your comfort level. We prefer to audition cold readings from sides of the production and will not ask for monologues. You may bring a resume and headshot, but they are not required.

DO I NEED TO SIGN UP FOR AN AUDITION SLOT?
Nope! Our auditions are first come, first served.
