Meet our Founders & Board

Michelle and Melissa hope that through eMBer’s efforts, more of Columbus will be able to recognize themselves in the stories and truly come to understand the strength of women. They actively strive to make theatre a more inclusive place, including removing barriers to opportunity for underrepresented communities.

Melissa Bair - Founder & Treasurer

Melissa has been a part of the Columbus theatre scene for many years as an actor, director, Producing Director and sitting on the Board of Directors for MadLab Theatre. She and Michelle have worked together for many years and eMBer was born out of a mutual desire to feature the kind of works that weren't readily being featured by other companies...a desire to be a landing place for amazing female artists who want their own story told on stage...and a place all audiences can come to appreciate the female experience.

Michael Trakas - Vice President

Michael has been a part of the Columbus theatre scene for many years as an actor, director, and stage manager. He began his journey with eMBer during their first production of Steel Magnolias, and has not looked back. He is both honored and privileged to work with such fantastic women and is grateful that they continue to keep him humble.

Michelle Batt - Founder & President

Michelle has been in Columbus Theatre for many years and has done pretty much every role from Board Member to Stage Hand. Most of this time was spent alongside Melissa helping to cultivate the legacy of MadLab Theatre before leaving in 2016. eMBer came to fruition through a desire to provide a place for work that features strong women characters that represent every woman. eMBer wants to reach the community of artists ready to create compelling work that is not always produced and gives a profound message.

Chris Potelicki - Fundraising Coordinator

Chris has had a passion for arts and entertainment since childhood. Her best memories revolve around going to movies, plays, concerts, and watching TV every day with family. She's not an actor, but she is known to incorporate movie and TV quotes into most conversations. Chris' love for eMBer Women's Theatre and the work being done led her to become part of the board.
